TL;DR: LinkedIn data enrichment B2B is the practice of taking a thin LinkedIn record – a name, a headline, a company – and filling in the work email, direct dial, verified title, and company details you need to actually contact that person. It solves contactability. It does not tell you who is worth contacting, and the usual way of doing it, scraping profiles, breaks LinkedIn’s own rules.
My mornings used to look like this. Open a LinkedIn post, scroll the reaction list, copy names into a spreadsheet, then spend the afternoon hunting for email addresses belonging to people who had no idea who I was. Enrichment was the easiest part of that to buy. It was also the part that changed my results the least.

A LinkedIn record is thin on purpose. You get a name, a headline, a current company, and whatever the person chose to publish. What you do not get is a work email, a phone number, a verified job title, headcount, funding stage, or tech stack.
Enrichment closes that gap. Three flavors, and they are not equally useful:
- Contact enrichment. Work email and phone. This is what most people mean by enrichment, and it is the only one with an honest scoreboard: either the email bounces or it does not.
- Firmographic enrichment. Headcount, revenue band, industry, location, funding. Cheap, fairly stable, and the most reliable of the three.
- Intent or signal enrichment. Hiring, job changes, tech installs, funding events. Sold as intent. Mostly it is timing data, which is not the same thing.
What is missing from all three: any evidence the person wants to hear from you. That is the scarce input.
The accuracy numbers nobody will source
Search enrichment accuracy and you hit a wall of confident figures. Single-source match rates of 55 to 70 percent. Waterfall setups reaching 85, 92, 98 percent. Contact data decaying 25 to 30 percent a year.
I went looking for primary sources behind those numbers. What I found was vendor blogs citing vendor blogs, most of them selling the tool that happens to win the comparison, none publishing a dataset or a method you could repeat.
I am not going to put a competing number next to them. I do not have a test at that scale, and inventing one would be worse than useless.
What I will say from running this myself: track your own bounce rate for one month before you buy anything. It is the only enrichment metric that cannot be marketed at you.
The number that is published, with a dataset behind it, sits one step downstream. Expandi analyzed 13,218,869 connection requests and 6,730,447 messages across 13,302 active LinkedIn accounts between May 2025 and April 2026, and found a 28.5% acceptance rate and a 10.4% reply rate platform-wide (Expandi 2026 benchmarks). Those are averages over mostly cold sends, and the report itself notes the average hides wide swings by industry. Sit with the shape of it anyway: nine out of ten messages get no answer. A cleaner email address does not move that. The reason for the message does.
The rule most enrichment tools break
This part gets skipped in every enrichment guide I have read.
Section 8.2 of LinkedIn’s User Agreement prohibits developing, supporting, or using software, scripts, robots, crawlers, or browser plugins to scrape or copy the Services, and separately prohibits bots or unauthorized automated methods to access the Services, add or download contacts, or send messages (LinkedIn User Agreement). LinkedIn keeps a separate help page listing prohibited software and extensions, and says members who use them risk having their accounts restricted or closed (LinkedIn Help).
So when a tool offers to enrich any LinkedIn profile by injecting a browser extension into your session, the risk is not the vendor’s. It is your account, your network, and the pipeline attached to both.
Two rules I run by:
- Nothing operates inside my LinkedIn session that I would not want reviewed. Browser injection is the highest-risk shape there is.
- Enrichment happens after a person is on my list, from sources outside LinkedIn. Enriching someone you already have a reason to contact is a different act from harvesting the platform for strangers.

Enrich the signal, not the list
Here is the reframe that fixed my own outbound.
Most B2B enrichment runs list-first. Build a big list from search filters, enrich all of it, sequence it. Enrichment is load-bearing in that model, because the list has nothing else going for it. The data has to carry the entire message.
Signal-first runs the other way. Start from people who did something observable – commented on a post in your space, followed the account your buyers read every morning, engaged with a competitor’s launch. Then enrich that much smaller set.
Same tooling, different order. Three things change:
- Volume drops. I enrich dozens of people a week, not thousands, so cost per record stops driving the decision.
- The opener writes itself. You have a real reason to contact them that has nothing to do with a job title you bought.
- Decay stops mattering as much. A record enriched the week you use it has no time to rot. Whatever the true decay rate is, it applies to lists you sat on.

What to enrich, in what order
Building this from scratch, spend in this order:
- Work email, verified. One provider plus a verification step. Skip the multi-vendor stack until your bounce rate proves you need it.
- Job title and seniority. Cheap, and it kills the worst targeting mistakes.
- Headcount and industry. Enough firmographics to segment. Stop there.
- Phone. Only if you actually call. Direct dials are the priciest field and the fastest to go stale.
- Everything else. Tech stack, funding, intent feeds. Nice to have, rarely the constraint.

Is LinkedIn data enrichment legal?
Enriching contact data from third-party sources is a normal, legal business practice. Scraping LinkedIn profiles to do it is a separate question: section 8.2 of LinkedIn’s User Agreement prohibits it, and the consequence lands on your account, not the vendor’s.
Can I get enrichment data from LinkedIn’s own API?
Not for prospecting. LinkedIn’s official APIs are gated to approved partner use cases, and bulk contact export is not one of them. Any tool offering a full profile dump is not doing it with LinkedIn’s blessing.
How accurate is B2B enrichment data?
No vendor publishes a repeatable methodology, so treat every accuracy claim as marketing. Run 200 records through a provider and measure your own bounce rate before you sign anything.
Is a waterfall of multiple providers worth it?
