How to See Who Viewed Your LinkedIn Profile (and What a View Is Worth, 2026)

Overhead view of an open silver laptop keyboard beside a white mug of coffee and a closed black notebook with a pen, on a wooden table.

Quick answer: Here’s how to see who viewed your LinkedIn profile: click Me, then View Profile, then the profile views number in the Analytics section. Free accounts show a short list of recent viewers from the last 90 days. Premium shows up to 365 days. Anyone browsing in private mode appears as anonymous, even to Premium members.

I checked that list every morning when I was building my coaching pipeline by hand. Here’s how to open it, what each plan shows, and what a view is actually worth.

How do I see who viewed my LinkedIn profile on desktop?

You open the Analytics section on your own profile.

  1. Click Me at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, then View Profile.
  2. Scroll to the Analytics section under your headline.
  3. Click the profile views number. That opens the “Who’s viewed your profile” page.
  4. Click a name to open that person’s profile and check fit.

On mobile, start from your photo, then View Profile, and look for the same Analytics section.

What do free and Premium accounts see?

Free accounts see the most recent viewers in a rolling 90-day window, and Premium sees more of them for longer. Per LinkedIn’s comparison of basic and Premium accounts, Premium shows up to 365 days of viewer data, plus filters and trend graphs.

LinkedIn’s own help pages disagree on how many names a free account gets, so I won’t quote a number. Check your own page. Two rules hold on both plans:

  • Your settings control the list. If your own viewing setting hides your name and headline, you lose the viewer list too.
  • No views in 90 days means no data. An empty page usually means an unvisited profile, not a broken feature.

What is private mode, and can Premium see through it?

No. Private mode hides a viewer’s name from the people they visit. LinkedIn’s help page on private mode viewers says even Premium members can’t see the names of those viewers. They show up as anonymous.

The trade runs both ways. A free account that browses in private mode loses its own viewer list. Premium keeps the list while browsing privately.

How to see who viewed your LinkedIn profile, and why the list is less useful than it looks

A profile view is the weakest signal on LinkedIn. Someone clicked. That’s all you know.

The viewer could be a recruiter, a competitor, a vendor, a curious ex-coworker, or a buyer. The list doesn’t say which, and it doesn’t say why they came. When I was working it by hand, most names told me nothing I could act on.

I wrote about when a view counts as a lead in LinkedIn profile views leads. Short version: a view followed by a comment or a reaction means something. A view alone doesn’t.

What to do with the names once you have them

Here’s the routine I ran before I built LeadBase:

  1. Skip the obvious non-fits. Recruiters, competitors, people who sell to the same buyers you do.
  2. Check the profile for fit. Title, company size, whether they could sign.
  3. Look for a second signal. Did they also react to or comment on one of your posts? Two signals beat one.
  4. Message about the topic, not the view. “Saw you looked at my profile” reads as surveillance. A line about something they posted reads as a conversation.
  5. Log it. Name, date, signal. Without a log you’ll message the same person twice.

Where profile views break down

The viewer list is short on free accounts, capped at a window on Premium, and blank for anyone in private mode. It can’t tell you what the person wanted.

Engagement is public and tied to a topic. The people who react to and comment on posts in your space have named themselves and told you what they care about. That’s the list I eventually built LeadBase to pull, scored and ready, so I stopped opening tabs. If you want to work that list by hand first, I covered it in how to see who liked a LinkedIn post and how to export LinkedIn post commenters. For the tools that claim to unmask visitors, see LinkedIn profile visitors tool.

FAQ

Can you see who viewed your LinkedIn profile for free?
Yes, a limited list. Free accounts see recent viewers from the last 90 days, as long as your own viewing settings show your name and headline.

Does LinkedIn tell people when you view their profile?
Yes, unless you browse in private mode. Then you show up as an anonymous LinkedIn member.

Can Premium reveal private mode viewers?
No. Premium gives you a longer, richer list, but private mode viewers stay anonymous on every plan.

Is a profile view a buying signal?
Only a weak one. A view plus a reaction or comment on your content is much stronger.
